On the occasion of International Women's Day, the city hall of Paris invited the SAVATE Boxe Française Regional Committee to the Emile Antoine gymnasium to share the passion of our sport with Parisian women.
"An intense, friendly, enjoyable day, and full of encounters..." : Some words from the Parisian women who were able to meet our 3 champions on the "ring".
Helped by volunteers from ARECAM, Tina, Nadeige and others (including Wing Tat, Kai and Yonnel), it was with dedication and passion that Anne-Laure, Julia and Julie donned their gloves all the afternoon. And they smiled, laughed often, and kept a good atmosphere, in the middle of hubbub - in the same room you could hear (and feel) drums and berimbaus. They were quite obviously happy to be there and were driven by the same passion: that of SAVATE Boxe Française.
A very busy day, where more than 150 Parisian women stepped into the ring; and more than 150 'I LOVE SAVATE' t-shirts were won by those that dared to meet our three champions in the ring!
Beyond the opportunity to step into the ring with champions, it was also an opportunity for many women to meet with other women who combine an athletic life with their professional life. Of course there was little time to really communicate and share their experiences, but what they were able to do, athletically and socially, showed the feasability of the such an aim!
And that was our objective! Allowing Parisian women to see that sport, even contact sport, such as SAVATE Boxe Française, is not a question of gender!
